Jeff's Credentials
Jeffrey W. Jones, Esq.
  • Graduate of Princeton University (Psychology) and an Honors graduate of Rutgers-Camden School of Law. Also attended University of Miami School of Law and regularly attends and teaches seminars on estate planning, trust and estate tax law.
  • Member of the bars of Maine, New Jersey, and the United States Supreme Court. First admitted to the bar in 1977.
  • Holds the highest rating ("a-v") from Martindale-Hubbell, the nation's oldest independent lawyer-rating service.
  • Elected a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) in 1990. Currently serving as Maine State Chair. (ACTEC is an organization of the finest trust and estate lawyers in the country, and I'm proud to have been nominated and elected to membership. Attending ACTEC meetings and conferences every few months gives me access to the very latest thinking of the very best in the profession.)
  • Voted one of "The Best Lawyers in America" in the category "Estate and Trust" for ten years. (This honor means a lot to me, because Woodward and White, the publishers of "The Best Lawyers in America" rating service, develop their list by asking other trust and estate lawyers to whom they would send a family member for estate and trust advice.)
  • Chair, Maine Uniform Trust Code Drafting Committee. (This committee of 33 lawyers and trust bankers spent two years developing the first comprehensive trust statute ever enacted by the Maine Legislature. It becomes effective on july 1, 2005.)
  • Practice limited to trusts, estate and family business planning, preservation of family assets, and probate.
  • Practices in Ellsworth and Eddington, Maine.
  • Clients located throughout Maine, New Jersey and many other states, Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries.
